Rustic Tableware

I love going out for dinner. It means not having to cook, lay the table or wash up – ideal. It’s not just all these things though that makes eating out a pleasurable experience; it’s also the umming and arring over the menu, enjoying the company and getting a feel for the decor.

Nowadays, a lot of upmarket restaurants like Jamie Oliver’s chains, steak houses and gastro pubs have opted for the rustic look. What I mean by this is a lot of the food is presented on special wooden and stoneware presentation boards. These contemporary boards really accentuate the food and make it look very appetising, especially when serving burgers, meats, tapas and cheeses.

A lot of the serving boards designed for meat feature a groove around the outside designed to catch all the juices, this stops the board from dripping. Ramekin dish boards are perfect for serving a collection of tapas or nibbles; these come with a handle for the ease of carrying and picking up from the table, as well as grooves to place the ramekin dishes in for sturdiness.

All these boards come in a range of different sizes, shapes and materials. Most of them are handmade and each one is unique which adds to the beauty of them. My favourite wooden board collection we sell is the olive wood. It is hardy yet beautiful and very distinctive; this is due to each tree embodying a magnificent grain structure which gives each olive wood piece a unique personality. Each board, once sanded and polished, is coated with olive oil and bees wax to give it a natural shine and ensure longevity, this can easily be preserved by applying olive oil occasionally.

Why not branch out from using the usual 'plate' to serve your food on, I can guarantee your customers will love it, they are also great for the home.
