Here we are again – a new year and the excesses of the Christmas period have left many promising to eat healthier and lose some of those festive pounds.

According to a recent survey, nearly three quarters of us admit to over-indulgence at Christmas, knowing that it’ll all catch up with us in January. So, as healthy food will be on the menu for the short term at least, let’s take a look at a couple of products which might be helpful in the coming months.

DN676 KitchenAid Classic BlenderCB135 Waring Commercial Hi Power Blender

The KitchenAid Classic Blender or the Waring Xtreme Hi Power Blender are perfect for making wholesome vitamin rich soups, smoothies and chopped fruit or vegetables.  Ensure to choose your ingredients carefully though, as some fruits have huge amounts of natural sugars, so consider using raspberries, peaches or strawberries which are all low sugar fruits.

Alternatively, a wholesome soup can easily be blended in either machine, so with careful choice of ingredients and your own hand-made stock, you can easily make a healthy and filling soup whilst avoiding common issues associated with canned or ready-made soups.  If it's made from scratch you'll know exactly what is in it.  Carrots and leeks are both in season and would make a delicious and healthy soup at this time of year.  The Waring is especially good at preparing soups, as demonstrated in the following video:

K275 Santos Juicer
Many people prefer clean and simple fruit juice, so the Santos Classic Juicer is perfect at extracting all the tasty juice out of oranges, grapefruit and other citrus fruits.  Lemons and limes are both low in sugar and contain high levels of vitamin C, so are especially in demand at this time of year, however some people consider the grapefruit to have health benefits which tie in with the post-festive detox period.

Numerous studies in the past have suggested that increasing consumption of grapefruit decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease, so a refreshing glass of fresh grapefruit juice is a tasty and healthy addition to the breakfast serving.
In the end, we all know that a healthy diet and good exercise is key to shedding the Christmas pounds.  That said, using machines like the KitchenAid , Waring and Santos can be much more fun.
